Cor de Carxofa, a healthy restaurant committed to sustainable tourism

Cor de Carxofa is one of the first restaurants in the Valencian community to be certified with the S for Sustainable Tourism by the ICTE (Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality), since 2023.


Committed to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Since its inception in 2018, Cor de Carxofa has been a benchmark in terms of sustainability, from the sustainable terrace built entirely of wood from sustainable forests and reused pallets, with 100% solar energy powered by its own panels; the signature cuisine, where local and organically grown products are the protagonists, the restaurant's energy efficiency, respectful water consumption and the non-use of chemicals in cleaning...


There are many points that we at Cor de Carxofa carry out on a daily basis to make the world a better and more sustainable place.

ICTE asked us to focus on 4 SDGs when drafting our sustainability report; in this case we have worked in depth on the SDGs of Health and well-being (3), Quality education (4), Decent work and economic growth (8) and Responsible production and consumption (12), but at Cor de Carxofa we work on many more SDGs in our day to day; sustainability is part of our DNA.

Cor de Carxofa, the first restaurant in the province associated with Slow Food's "Cuineres i Cuiners Km0".

Our chef, in addition to belonging to the Conviviums of Tarraco and Palancia-Mijares, has been the first Valencian chef to join the "Cuineres i Cuiners Km0" movement of the Slow Food Community, including the province of Castellón on the map of sustainable and local gastronomy.


It should be noted that Cor de Carxofa, It is one of the few established to achieve the three Caracoles of Excellence ( Good, Clean and Fair); awarded after exhaustive daily improvement work and having passed rigorous annual audits by the association itself.


Today other colleagues such as Ruben Miralles (Vinaròs) have also taken the step and are part of this great family.

Committed to tourism quality

Since 2019 Cor de Carxofa has been distinguished by the SICTED (Comprehensive Tourism Quality System in Destinations) for their work in daily improvement for the clients and tourists who choose Benicarló as a gastronomic reference every year.


SICTED helps us to better understand our clients through the manual of good practices and to improve as a company.


Furthermore, during the pandemic we implemented a manual of advanced good practices against COVID-19 and adapted our facilities accordingly, with the acquisition, for example, of the latest technology Dyson purifiers, which to this day continue to provide us with a much cleaner atmosphere during our stay in the restaurant.

The gastronomic product club of the province of Castellón

The healthy restaurant Cor de Carxofa is part of Castelló Ruta de Sabor, the product club that brings together producers, manufacturers and restaurants from the province of Castellón, to highlight the value of local products.


Chef Anay Bueno has represented Castelló Ruta de Sabor at different fairs such as Gastronoma or Fitur, showcookings in Castellón, Valencia and Alicante, and even at the most important Gastronomic Festival in the province held in Benicarló in October 2022.

The gastronomic brand of Turisme Valencian Community

L'Exquisit Mediterrani is the new tourist brand of the Generalitat ValencianaAt Cor de Carxofa we have participated as brand ambassadors, giving showcookings representing the DOP Carxofa de Benicarló and Turisme Benicarló, both at the Mostra de Turisme (Palau de les Arts i les Ciencies in Valencia) and at Alicante Gastronómica, the 3rd most important fair in the sector in Spain.


We also participated in the first L'Exquisit gastronomic days from November 10 to 27, 2022
